Minister Hajdari together with institutional officials and experts of the International Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) disclosed the findings of the 2024 Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook Report

This report is a reflection of the progress of performance towards our goal for a more competitive and sustainable economy.

In recent years, the Republic of Kosovo has made significant progress in many dimensions, all of which are necessary to maintain economic competitiveness and long-term growth.

Significant progress has been made since the publication of the OECD Report: Competitiveness in South-East Europe 2021.

The OECD Report: The Competitiveness Outlook 2024 confirms that the Republic of Kosovo has made positive progress in 12 of the 15 policy dimensions that this report oversees. The most notable increases in results pertain to the areas of investment and promotion policy as well as tourism and agriculture policies. According to this report, Kosovo is exceeding the average of six Western Balkan economies (WB6) in five policy dimensions and is positioned as a regional leader for state-owned enterprises and for trade policy and facilitation, which is in best compliance with EU standards and WTO agreements.

Kosovo has made significant progress in approximating policies with EU standards, through the advancement of policies and legal reforms in line with EU legislation and international best practices, as well as simplified procedures for doing fair, adaptive, and competitive business, encouraged by innovation and production.

Kosovo has recorded rapid development and growth by recording an average annual GDP growth rate of 6.2% over the last three years.

The OECD 2024 Western Balkan Competitiveness Outlook Report confirms that Kosovo has marked  the highest average economic growth, compared to the countries of the Western Balkans.

The Kosovo Investment and Enterprise Support AgencyKIESA in the role of the national coordinator for Kosovo stated the following regarding this OECD report: The Competitiveness Perspective has successfully coordinated and collected qualitative and quantitative data for evaluation of 15 dimensions of measuring competitiveness in coordination with sub-coordinators from our respective ministries and institutions.
