Albanian Diaspora – one of the main pillars of the overall development of the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtinë, 19/05/2025

The acting Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, participated in the Economic Conference of the Global Albanian Business Network - an important platform that unites and networks hundreds of Albanian businesses from the diaspora and our lands, building bridges of cooperation for the common good.

In her speech, Minister Hajdari emphasized that the Albanian Diaspora, as a large human, social and economic capital, constitutes an important force that brings knowledge, expertise, talent – namely the transfer of knowledge, technology, business networking and other essential resources, which are promising for the development of the country's economy, but also for the diaspora contributors themselves. During this governing mandate, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET) has increased financial support to the private sector manifold and has undertaken bold reforms to build a healthy, fair and competitive environment for doing business – by promoting and protecting responsible and sustainable investments, reducing bureaucracy, improving administrative services and guaranteeing that diaspora and foreign investors have the same legal rights and obligations as local investors.

Through reform and investment in industrial and technological parks, MIET is transforming all previously established but unused economic zones in Kosovo municipalities, as well as new zones created during this mandate, into effective parks serving local, diaspora and foreign businesses.

With economic, democratic and institutional progress, Kosovo has experienced the highest economic growth in the Western Balkans and is now positioned as a more competitive and attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI).

"Collaboration between diaspora and local businesses – with much untapped potential and creative ideas waiting to be realized – is a valuable investment for Kosovo's bright future," emphasized Minister Hajdari.
