Under the motto "Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises", MIET marks the International Accreditation Day

The Acting Minister, Ms. Rozeta Hajdari, the Head of Cooperation at the EU Office in Kosovo, Mr. Johannes STENBAEK Madsen, representatives of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs), external accreditation assessors and representatives from business community associations were present at this event, which was organised by the Kosovo Accreditation Directorate within the framework of MIET.
Acting Minister Ms. Rozeta Hajdari emphasised the commitment of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade to support the accreditation process and direct support to SMEs, which is this year's motto.
The Head of Cooperation at the EU Office in Kosovo, Mr. Johannes Stenbaek Madsen, emphasised the importance of developing a strong accreditation framework.
Meanwhile, the General Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Directorate (DAK), Mr. Irfan Lipovica, stated that DAK is cooperating with local and international experts to improve the service and international subjectivity of the accreditation process.
In addition to the speeches, presentations and the discussion panel on the topic of accreditation, there was also a congratulatory message from the President of the European Organisation for Co-operation on Accreditation, Ms. Maureen Logghe, addressed to the Acting Minister of MIET, Ms. Hajdari and the General Director of DAK, Mr. Lipovica.
The Importance of Accreditation:
Accreditation determines the technical competence, integrity and impartiality of organizations providing conformity assessment services such as testing, calibration, certification, and inspection based on international standards. This process is in the interest and benefit of the public.
Over the years, the role of accreditation has grown and has become a very important instrument in international legislation, for the creation of a market with safe products and services. Also, accreditation facilitates the export of products and services, having a vital impact on the economy.
Accreditation Schemes in Kosovo:
The General Directorate of Accreditation of Kosovo (GAK) currently has three accreditation schemes established:
• Accreditation of testing laboratories according to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard.
• Accreditation of inspection bodies according to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17020:2012 standard.
• Accreditation of medical laboratories according to the requirements of ISO 15189:2012 standard.
• Accreditation of certification bodies according to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17065:2012 standard.
Progress in Accreditation in Kosovo:
The number of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) accredited in Kosovo has increased. Currently, there are 71 accredited bodies, including 51 testing laboratories and 20 inspection bodies.
