The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, is participating in the annual international convention on mining and mineral exploration, PDAC 2026, in Toronto, Canada.
During her visit, Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that the development of the mining sector in a period of rapid geopolitical changes requires a clear strategic focus, partnerships with friendly and democratic countries, as well as high standards of resilience and environmental protection.
According to her, the priority remains the security of the supply chain, from extraction to the processing industry, so that mineral resources are transformed into added value for the country’s economy.
In this regard, the Minister highlighted that the Government of Kosovo is working to strengthen cooperation with agencies and companies from Canada and the United States of America, while simultaneously reviewing the legislative framework to reduce bureaucracy and administrative delays.
At the same time, policies are being developed to support the domestic processing industry, with the aim that raw mineral materials are not exported solely as resources, but are processed and converted into final products.
During her participation in the international convention of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), one of the largest global events in the mining industry, the Minister held meetings with senior representatives from several Canadian provinces where the mining sector is among the main pillars of the economy, including Saskatchewan, Alberta and New Brunswick.
Additionally, meetings were held with representatives of the Canadian Commercial Corporation, officials from Natural Resources Canada, as well as members of the Canadian Federal Parliament, including the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Ahmed Hussen, Parliamentary Secretary and Liberal MP Rob Oliphant, and Conservative MP and Shadow Minister Kyle Seeback.
According to Minister Kusari-Lila, these meetings confirm Canada’s clear support for the development of the mining sector in Kosovo and the fact that Kosovo enjoys the backing of the two largest political forces in Canada – the Liberals and the Conservatives.
In the course of the convention, meetings were also held with American businesses, which represent a concrete opportunity to deepen economic cooperation with the USA and Canada in a sector considered strategic for the long-term development of the country.
