The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI), following complaints received from consumers, has intensified field activities through the Verification Commission for electricity meters.
During the verifications carried out in the laboratory of the Metrology Agency, it was found that KEDS did not respect the validity period of the electricity meters. Based on these findings, the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, relying on the Law on Metrology (Article 46, paragraph 1.3, subparagraph 1.3.2), has imposed fines in the amount from EUR 1,500 to EUR 5,000 for each meter with an expired validity period.
MIETI remains committed to protecting consumer rights and treating with priority any complaint addressed to the Department of Consumer Protection.
In order to facilitate the reporting of irregularities in the market, a mobile number for receiving complaints has been functionalized as of today. Citizens can address their complaints at any time, including weekends and holidays, via Viber as well.
